Brands Hatch Delivered Drama: Pfeffer Dominated on Pace but Paid the Price for Errors

The legendary Brands Hatch circuit hosted the opening round of the brand-new Porsche GT Cup championship organized by AndreSport Race Club, and the first race delivered exactly what motorsport and simracing fans love – intense battles, aggressive racing, mistakes, emotions and controversy. JJ Racing Team was represented by Jiří Pfeffer, who became one of the standout drivers of the weekend behind the wheel of the Porsche GT3 RS (992) 2022.

From the very first laps, it was clear that Pfeffer arrived at Brands Hatch in excellent form. The demanding British circuit, known for its elevation changes, narrow layout and unforgiving corners, punishes every mistake. Despite that, the JJ Racing Team driver found the absolute limit of the car in qualifying and secured a phenomenal pole position, immediately establishing himself as one of the championship favorites.

The opening sprint race delivered intense battles from the very beginning. Pfeffer managed to keep the lead after the lights went out and spent the entire race under huge pressure from chasing rivals. Thanks to calm defensive driving, smart tire management and consistent pace, he crossed the finish line in first place after a brilliant lights-to-flag victory. However, the race also brought the first controversy of the weekend, as Pfeffer used the DRS system several times in situations where regulations did not allow it, which later became a subject of investigation by the stewards.

Sprint two brought a completely different story. Due to the reverse-grid format, Pfeffer started only from tenth place and had to fight his way through the field aggressively. The JJ Racing Team driver immediately began attacking and delivered spectacular door-to-door battles. But emotions and high pace once again proved costly. Pfeffer repeated the DRS mistake and later lost control of the car entering the legendary Paddock Hill Bend, ending up in the gravel trap. The situation became even worse when he rejoined the track unsafely, directly endangering other drivers. Despite dropping to the back of the field, he still recovered to finish ninth.

After the race, the stewards delivered a strict verdict. Repeated DRS violations and the dangerous rejoin resulted in a heavy penalty for the next championship round. Pfeffer will therefore have to start from the very back of the grid at Nürburgring.

Despite the setbacks, Brands Hatch proved one important thing – JJ Racing Team has the pace to fight for victories. Jiří Pfeffer showed race-winning speed throughout the weekend and established himself among the fastest drivers in the championship. At the same time, the opening round also demonstrated how thin the line can be between aggressive racing and costly mistakes that can completely change a race weekend within seconds.

The next round of the Porsche GT Cup will take place on May 13 at the legendary Nürburgring, where Pfeffer will try to recover from the difficult Brands Hatch weekend and prove his true potential from the back of the grid.

Brands Hatch přinesl drama: Pfeffer dominoval rychlostí, komisaři ale byli nekompromisní

Legendární britský okruh Brands Hatch hostil úvodní podnik nového šampionátu Porsche GT Cup organizace AndreSport Race Club a hned první závod nabídl přesně to, co fanoušci motorsportu a simracingu milují – tvrdé souboje, agresivní tempo, chyby, emoce i kontroverze. JJ Racing Team reprezentoval Jiří Pfeffer, který se za volantem Porsche GT3 RS (992) z roku 2022 postaral o jeden z nejvýraznějších výkonů celého víkendu.

Už od prvních kol bylo jasné, že Pfeffer přijel do Brands Hatch ve výborné formě. Náročný britský okruh s minimem únikových zón, velkým převýšením a technickými pasážemi trestá každou chybu, přesto dokázal jezdec JJ Racing Teamu v kvalifikaci najít absolutní limit vozu a vybojoval fenomenální pole position. Tím jasně naznačil, že bude patřit mezi hlavní favority celého šampionátu.

První sprintový závod nabídl mimořádně tvrdé souboje hned od startu. Pfeffer si po zhasnutí červených světel dokázal udržet vedení a po celou dobu čelil obrovskému tlaku soupeřů. Díky chladné hlavě, přesné defenzivní jízdě a skvělé práci s pneumatikami nakonec dovezl svůj vůz až k vítězství stylem start–cíl. V průběhu závodu ale zároveň přišel první problém. V zápalu soubojů totiž několikrát použil systém DRS v situacích, kde to pravidla šampionátu neumožňovala, což následně řešili sportovní komisaři.

Druhý sprint znamenal úplně jiný scénář. Obrácený rošt poslal Pfeffera až na desáté místo a čekala ho agresivní stíhací jízda skrz celé startovní pole. Jezdec JJ Racing Teamu okamžitě začal útočit a předváděl atraktivní souboje dveře na dveře. Jenže emoce a vysoké tempo si znovu vybraly svou daň. Pfeffer opět chyboval při používání DRS a následně při nájezdu do legendární zatáčky Paddock Hill Bend ztratil kontrolu nad vozem a skončil ve štěrkové zóně. Situaci ještě zhoršil riskantní návrat zpět na trať, při kterém ohrozil projíždějící soupeře. I přes propad na konec pole ale dokázal zabojovat a cílem projel alespoň na 9. místě.

Po závodě přišel nekompromisní verdikt sportovních komisařů. Opakované porušení pravidel při využívání DRS a nebezpečný návrat na trať znamenaly tvrdou penalizaci pro další podnik šampionátu. Pfeffer tak bude muset na Nürburgringu startovat z posledního místa na roštu.

Přesto Brands Hatch ukázal jednu zásadní věc – JJ Racing Team má rychlost bojovat o vítězství. Jiří Pfeffer během víkendu předvedl tempo, které ho řadí mezi nejrychlejší jezdce šampionátu. Zároveň ale první podnik připomněl, jak tenká je hranice mezi agresivním závoděním a chybou, která může změnit celý víkend během několika vteřin.

Další podnik Porsche GT Cupu se pojede 13. května na legendárním Nürburgringu, kde bude chtít Pfeffer napravit chyby z Brands Hatch a potvrdit svůj obrovský potenciál v soubojích ze zadních pozic.
