The ninth race of the Mercedes-Benz Virtual GP 2024 provided motorsport fans with an exciting spectacle. The famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium hosted the race with Super Formula SF23 cars, and while the weather allowed for great battles, the track still saw drama and tension until the very end.
JJ Racing Team participated in the race with drivers František Kaštovský, starting from 12th place, and Lukáš Uhlík, who began from 13th. Both drivers quickly found their rhythm, and thanks to strong performances and mistakes by their competitors, they fought their way up to 8th and 9th positions during the race. Unfortunately, contacts with other drivers complicated their path to a better result. In the end, František Kaštovský finished in 11th place, while Lukáš Uhlík held onto his position in the TOP 10, finishing in 10th place. Both drivers still managed to bring valuable points to the team in the championship standings.
Driver Comments:
František Kaštovský: “In qualifying, I unfortunately went off track in my best lap, which affected the final result. I had a decent start, but the race was challenging from the beginning. I kept my composure throughout the race until a battle where I misjudged the distance and damaged my front wing. That cost me a lot of time, and from a comfortable 8th position, I dropped to 11th. Even though the race was going well, the contact cost me many positions, but at least I finished this time.”
Lukáš Uhlík: “Qualifying wasn’t great, but also not terrible – P13. After the start, I managed to avoid trouble in the first corner and kept a solid pace. Several incidents around me allowed me to climb up to P9, where I focused on a calm and consistent drive. Towards the end of the race, faster competitors caught up with me, and I couldn’t significantly slow them down for František Kaštovský, so I decided not to defend too hard, hoping they would get into a conflict among themselves. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and František had a contact that caused damage. In the end, we safely swapped positions, and I finished in P10, which is my best result of the season so far.”
The next race of the championship will take place at the legendary Monza circuit in Italy on October 1, 2024. Follow the thrilling battles on the Virtual GP YouTube channel or on O2 TV Sport.
